What are skin boosters?
Skinboosters are a magnificent treatment that have multiple skin benefits including hydration, collagen and elastin stimulation and improvements to skin texture, skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles. Skinboosters are a product similar to dermal fillers that are injected into the skin to provide hydration, nourishment and rejuvenation.
The most significant difference to traditional dermal fillers is that dermal fillers are used to create volume or change the shape of the face. Skinboosters do not do this, as skin boosters are a soft texture and placed superficially under the skin to give the skin a plumper and more youthful look. Skinboosters can be used on the face, neck, décolletage and hands where they can improve fine lines and provide skin hydration.
How does it work?
Very small amounts of the product are injected across multiple injection sites in the area of choice. The product is placed superficially into the skin and encourages the activation of fibroblasts which stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin.
The product also draws in water which provides extensive hydration and textural improvement. This treatment is not used to lift lines and wrinkles or to change the overall shape of the face. It is used purely for the improvement of skin quality, skin hydration and anti-ageing.
What skin concerns can skin boosters help with and what areas of the body can it be used on?
The face, neck, décolletage and hands are the areas that are usually treated with Skinbooster as these are the areas that tend to show the first signs of ageing. Along with hydrating the skin, the Skinbooster treatment can also assist with the following concerns:
Loss of Elasticity
As we age, it’s only natural for the skin to lose some of its firmness, and Skinboosters can be used to increase skin firmness and elasticity to tighten and lift skin.
Dull skin
A healthy glow is a sign of youthfulness and Skinboosters can help restore this glow with its hydrating benefits.
Fine lines and wrinkles
Decreased levels of collagen will weaken the underlying structures of the skin, and Skinbooster treatments stimulate healthy collagen and elastin production. This will help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and strengthen weakened areas of the skin.
Pigmentation
Skinboosters can assist with refining pigment irregularities in order to achieve a more even skin tone.
How is the skin booster treatment administered?
After a thorough consultation exploring your medical history and the treatment itself, numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for 20-30 minutes before hand. The numbing cream is then thoroughly removed prior to the treatment commencing and the skin is cleaned with an anti-bacterial solution. The skinbooster is then injected across the targeted areas of the skin with a fine needle.
Who can have skin boosters?
The procedure is able to be used on all skin types, including darker skin tones. It is suitable for both the younger client who wants a natural skin improvement or “glow”, and is fantastic to delay the onset of ageing.
The more mature client is also a suitable candidate, as the Skinbooster treatment will provide more firmness due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin, and a more brightened appearance with the hydrating effects.
Why is this treatment so popular?
The skin is strengthened and made more youthful and firmer due to the stimulation and production of collagen and elastin. It is a very natural-appearing result without altering the face shape or risk of an “overfilled” or “puffy” appearance.
How often should someone have skin boosters?
The Skinbooster package is a series of two treatments provided 30 days apart. After the initial treatment series, the client can then have a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months. There have been cases known of the treatment to last up to 15 months which makes it great value for money.
Who is not suitable to have skin boosters?
This treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients tolerate the procedure very well with the prior application of the numbing cream. As there are a series of needles going into the skin, there may be some discomfort.
What are the side effects?
The expected and more common side effects include small lumps at the injection sites, mild bruising and swelling. These side effects are often only temporary and resolve well. The unexpected side effects that are more serious may include infection or granulomas, which may lead to scarring.
